What Will It Cost Me?
New appointments range in cost from $303 to $410 with a gap of $160 after Medicare rebate (the fee depends upon complexity of the appointment, but all appointments have the same out of pocket expense). Other tests performed during consultation are bulk billed.
Do I Need A Referral?
Yes, a referral is required to be eligible for a Medicare rebate. You can request a referral from your GP.
Do I Need Private Health Insurance?
No, private health insurance is not required for an outpatient appointment. Some specialist investigations can only be performed in Brisbane at this time. These investigations, eg hospital sleep study or bronchoscopy, may be funded by private health insurance or self-funded.
What Should I Bring To My Appointment?
You will need a referral and your Medicare card details (although your referring doctor may have provided a referral directly to us). It may be helpful to bring a list of any medication taken on a regular basis. If your child has asthma and you would like to have their asthma assessed, it may be helpful to withhold their asthma medication for 24 hours and bring ventolin and a spacer with you. However, do not withhold medication if your child’s asthma is unstable and it is not safe for them to go without medication for 24 hours.
Do You Provide Telehealth Appointments?
Yes, telehealth appointments are available for your convenience.
What If I Need To Rebook Another Appointment?
On completion of your appointment, Dr. Burgess will let you know if you require another appointment. The admin team at the clinic will book this appointment for you.
What Do I Do In An Emergency?
In case of emergency please contact your GP After Hours service, your local hospital or call an ambulance via 000 if required. Dr Burgess does not provide after hours services for patients. If your child is treated by another doctor or is admitted to hospital, please forward all medical information through to Dr Burgess using the details on the Contact page.
